11 Cozy Best Friend Date Ideas to Try At Home!

3 friends having fun

I recently wrote a post on the best friend date ideas to try with your besties and it quickly went viral.

I’m glad to see you are all looking for ways to spend more quality time with your friends!

So now, I figured I would come up with some fun friend date ideas to do from the comfort of your own home!

My friends and I, sure we love to go out but I honestly feel like we have the most fun at home. For one, I think deep down we’re all just big homebodies and second, as long as we’re hanging out together, it doesn’t matter if we just woke up and we’re chilling in our pajamas OR we’re belting out our favourite tunes while cooking some lunch. No matter what, it’s going to be a fun time!

And am I the only one who just feels so much more free at home?!! It feels like we can just do whatever we want and not care at all about being weird or embarrassing in front of people!

Aaaaanyway, here is a list of super fun things to do with your friends at home to chill and have a dandy time! Enjoy!

1. Build a fort

I’ve wanted to try this for some time now.

I’ve never done it but I see people doing it in movies and it looks so fun!

So if you want to be a kid again for one day, grab some blankets and pillows and create a fort in your in your living room!

2. Go through old photos from your childhood

This is usually so cringy AND wholesome at the same time.

I love going through old pictures with my friends because, on the one hand, we get to laugh at past hair and outfit choices and wonder WHYYY we ever thought that was okay. On the other, we get to look at the baby versions of us and be amazed at how much we’ve grown since then!

3. Try new recipes together

I recently had a great time teaching my best friend one of my fav snacks from my country. Her entire family loved it!

If there’s a recipe one of you has been wanting to try, why not make a friend date out of it?

4. Game night

I’m always down for a nice game night with friends!

It’s the ideal opportunity to relax, unwind and have some fun while getting a glimpse at your friends’ competitive sides.

I’ve done many virtual game nights with my long-distance best friends but real-life ones are also a vibe.

And of course the more, the merrier!

Here are my favourite board games that I love to have at EVERY game night:

5. Just do nothing

This is so underrated but doing nothing with your friends is honestly just the best.

I love hanging out with my friends and even though we’re not actively engaging with each other, we’re still spending quality time with each other.

I could be reading a book while someone else is scrolling on their phone and someone is watching TV and I still love it. Simply being in their presence is enough to make me really happy and recharge my friendship battery.

6. Do a puzzle together

You can do puzzles by yourself but it’s way more fun with friends.

Invite your friends over, order some pizza and put your thinking caps on as you try to solve some complicated puzzle.

I ordered this one recently and I still haven’t finished it I need to invite a friend over to help me finish it!

7. Ask each other questions

It’s always fun to randomly ask other people questions and what better time to do it than if you have a free night and you’re just chilling with your friends? Grab some snacks and spend that time learning more about each other.

If you’re in the mood for some lighthearted, funny questions, check out my article on random questions to ask your friends to have a laugh. You can check it out here.

Or, if you want to go more on the deep and personal side, I also wrote an article on some genuine questions to ask your friends to get closer to them. You can read it here.

8. Karaoke at home

My friend and I are absolute Hamilton fans and we never miss a chance to jam out to songs from the musical when we’re bored at home.

So whichever song you’re feeling, play it and sing out as loud as you can (hopefully you don’t disturb the neighbours!).

Have fun creating your own mini-concert experience from your living room!

9. Create a choreography

As a kid, I used to love watching music videos from my favourite singers and imitating their dance moves in my living room with my friends. It was honestly one of the highlights of my childhood.

A few summers ago, I spent some time at my cousin’s house after not seeing him for many years. He’s a professional dancer so he taught me a bunch of cool new moves and we had so much fun reconnecting after all these years.

So get back in touch with your inner child, let loose, put on your fav beats, and create some fun silly routines with your besties. Or, look up some cool new moves online and have fun learning them with each other!

10. Movie night

I love my impromptu movie nights with friends because it’s such a nice time to just chill in comfy clothes and enjoy a movie or start a new show together.

Sometimes at my best friend’s house, we’ll even set up a mattress in her living room and literally spend the whole night and fall asleep there. I

It’s a nice break from the busyness of adult life and it reminds me of the good ol times of sleepovers during our teenage years.

11. At-home spa experience!

So I feel like this is mentioned a lot when it comes to self-care and fun things to do at home but it REALLY is so fun to do! Especially with friends!

Whether it’s trying different face masks, doing each other’s nails or experimenting with some cool new hairstyles, there’s truly nothing like a good at-home pamper day.

It’s also the perfect time to catch up with each other and share interesting stories especially if you haven’t seen each other for a while.
