7 Spring Cleaning Hacks For Your Mind

Spring is here and it’s the perfect time for a little self check-in.

We’re almost halfway through 2025 and before we reach that milestone I think it’s important to look back on the first months of the year and see how we’re doing goals wise, health wise or just in general really.

This isn’t meant to be a “strict” article to make you feel bad if you’re not where you thought you’d be this time of the year.

It’s simply an opportunity for you to take a break from the hustle and buste of everyday and evaluate your life. See how you’re doing, what needs adjustment and congratulate yourself on your wins.

So sit back, grab a cup of tea and let’s dive in!

1. Reflect on the year so far

Look back on 2025 so far.

How’s the year going for you?

Be honest and let go of any judgment.

It’s okay if you haven’t made much progress on your goals or if you haven’t even started yet. I really don’t believe in bashing yourself and making yourself feel bad, especially if life got in the way.

What’s done is done. You can only move forward from here.

But if that’s how it is with you, you can decide to be more intentional with the remaining months of the year. Come up with simple, actionable and sustainable steps to get back on track and achieve the things that are important to you.

And if none of this applies to you and you’re actually on track, good for you! Keep it up!

2. Simplify your goals

Yes, I mentioned above that it’s important to have simple, actionable goals to follow for the rest of the year.

But I need to stress the “simple” side of things.

Make sure it’s something that you can actually implement! Don’t make life harder for yourself!

If for instance you want to work on your health and get fit, it’s okay if you can’t go to the gym and do crazy complicated workouts just yet.

Just start with going for a 20-min walk in your area a few days a week. And make it fun by listening to your fav songs or a podcast. Eventually you can build on this.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. So it’s okay to take small steps towards your goals as long as you’re being consistent.

3. Declutter your social media

Open your social media accounts and unfollow anyone and anything that doesn’t serve you.

Better yet, delete some of your social media accounts! Take a break whether it’s for a week, a few months or indefinitely.

I guarantee you your mental health will thank you.

In our heavily interconnected world, we’re so used to constantly having access to so much information that we forget we can and should disconnect every once in a while.

Social media has its advantages of course. But it can get very overwhelming very fast which is why it’s key to put boundaries and curate your usage of it so it serves you and does not harm you.

4. Organize your space

A cleaner space equals a cleaner mind.

Take some time to do some spring cleaning around your house or just your room and trim the fat on anything that is just cluttering your environment.

Donate some clothes, clean up your space, re-organize your desk.

As a bonus, why not do a bit of redecorating too? Add some new decorations and colours to your space to brighten it up and make it more original. This will also help give you a fresh perspective on life in general.

5. Let go of toxic relationships

Whether online or in real life.

The people in your life have a direct impact on your wellbeing. So choose them wisely.

Unfollow that creator that posts content that only fuels your anxiety.

If that friend from high school won’t stop posting about their happy relationship and it bothers you because you’re still single as a pringle, maybe consider muting their posts? No hard feelings of course but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you have a family member or friend who you love deeply but brings you down sometimes, find ways to limit your interactions with them for your own sake.

You need to be intentional about your relationships and truly nurture the ones that serve you the most.

6.Declutter your thoughts

It’s important to check in with yourself every once in a while.

We get so busy with life that we forget to evaluate and assess how we’re really feeling on the inside.

So take some time to journal and empty your head. Putting your thoughts on paper will help you feel calmer  and give you a clearer head so you can better analyze them.

If you’re able, I also highly recommend going to therapy. Talking to someone who is completely unrelated to your life is HUGE and it has been a game changer for me.

But if you can’t do therapy, reach out to a good friend and ask if they’d be okay to listen to you vent.

You don’t have to do life alone and your loved ones are here to support you if you let them.

7. Self-care is key!

When’s the last time you took some time for yourself to rest and recharge without feeling guilty?

Self care is not a luxury. It’s a necessity and it needs to become a priority in your life.

However you can, include moments of self-care in your everyday life. Maybe that means waking up a bit earlier to make yourself your favourite breakfast or treating yourself to a solo date at the movies every weekend.

Also, something as simple as making sure you get enough sleep can make a HUGE difference!

You could also get into some creative hobbies like drawing or taking a dance class to reconnect with your inner child and remind yourself to have more fun.

You can’t pour from an empty cup so remember to take care of yourself.
